In a new cover story for Glamour, Issa Rae talked about fangirling for Michelle Obama and how they bonded over her love of Insecure — and Obama’s confusion over the Season 2 finale.

“She had just finished watching the finale, and she was like, ‘That fakeout—how could you do that? I thought you and Lawrence were going to live happily ever after.'” she said. “I was like, ‘You really watch it?’ She was like, ‘Yes. Sasha and Malia put me on to it.’ It was like talking to my auntie. It bums me out that I will never have that feeling again of the First Family f–king with us so hard and getting us. If Melania [Trump] said that to me, I would be like, ‘Well, I guess it’s canceled. We’re not making this show. It’s not ours anymore.'”

And while she was obviously joking, when that excerpt of the interview was shared by Page Six online, it caught the attention of Trump’s actual director of communications, and it seems that she felt some type of way. Stephanie Grisham sent an “alert” to Rae letting her know that Trump allegedly is a fan of the show. We don’t really believe it (she gives us more Young and the Restless fan vibes), but whatever:

However, Rae wasn’t backpedaling on her statements. When she saw Grisham’s tweet, she responded by joking about the idea that Trump is out here operating with a body double because she’s miserable in her role as First Lady and wife to Donald Trump:

But when it comes to the former First Lady, this isn’t the first time Rae has expressed her love for Obama. She told Today in August that finding out not only Michelle but also Barack Obama are fans of her work is “Weird, but also the best thing ever.”

“Barack Obama complimented the soundtrack, complimented Yvonne Orji who plays Molly and I about being creative Black women,” Rae said. “And then a year later, I went to see Michelle Obama speak in Boston, and Tiffany Haddish and I stood in line to say ‘Hey!’ And Michelle had to tell me she didn’t approve of how our finale made her feel. She was like, ‘That was terrible. I was so mad!'”
