Rihanna has gained much success with her lingerie line Savage x Fenty. The size inclusive line includes bras, panties, bralettes, teddies, corsets, bodysuits and more ranging from XS to 3X. The collection also boasts seven shades of nude. The brand has gained wild success and popularity pushed by models and Instagram influencers alike. Last season, the brand hosted a pop-up in NYC for NYFW at the Villain in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, that kicked off a series of pop-ups on a global scale. This season for NYFW, the brand promises an “immersive experience.”
What on earth could this mean?!
The collection she is presenting in September is for Fall 2018 and will be immediately available to shop on SavageX.com. I love that Rihanna and her team are leaning into the see now, buy now model. Who wants to wait six months before they can access pieces they see floating down the runway?!
Rihanna has partnered with El Segundo, a California based TechStyle Fashion Group to launch Savage x Fenty. It’s hard to believe the collection isn’t even a year old. The collection received applause as well as criticism when it launched for not having all pieces in plus-size as well as for some of the clothing looking “cheap.” Rihanna has kept her brand at healthy price points, most likely to provide access and availability for her fans at all socioeconomic levels.
It will be interesting to see if the Savage x Fenty team has listened to the complaints of the consumers. In addition to a fashion show, Savage x Fenty will host another pop-up as well so fans and consumers can get their hands on the goods in real life. Following her New York City pop-up, she’ll host a pop-up at the Mall of America and then two more cities in the Fall. The show will debut at 7:30PM on September 12th (promptly after Marc Jacobs).
I’m not sure what Rihanna has up her panties, er sleeve, for this collection and show, but I have a feeling it’s going to be good.
