As fans feverishly anticipate the return of How to Get Away With Murder, Viola Davis has another upcoming project that is sure to get everyone talking. Her new film Widows arrives this fall and the first full-length trailer will keep you on the edge of your seat.

A big-screen remake of the British 1980s TV series, Widows stars Viola Davis as one of a circle of widows who must band together when they are left with a hefty debt to pay due to the criminal activities of their deceased husbands.

Moving the setting to Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica (Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo) take their fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms. Widows also stars Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Robert Duvall, Daniel Kaluuya, Andre Holland and Brian Tyree Henry.

The film marks the return to the big screen for director Steve McQueen, famous for his 2013 critically-acclaimed and award-winning film 12 Years A Slave. As you may remember, that film is what garnered Lupita Nyong’o an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress and made her a household name. Based on the trailer, Widows could be McQueen’s second film to receive awards attention.
