Issa Rae Has A Message For All The Hurtbaes In #LawrenceHive
Issa Rae is hitting all the press rounds this week in preparation for the Sunday premiere of her hit HBO produced series, “Insecure.”
On Friday the actress stopped by BuzzFeed’s “AM to DM” to deliver a message to the #LawrenceHive. Supporters of our favorite ex Best Buy worker have been real aggy over the news that actor Jay Ellis was not reviving his role as Lawrence on Season 3.
Most were split between needing to acknowledge the art of moving on versus living in the past.
“Look, #LawrenceHive, if you keep in touch with your exes every single day, then by all means continue to protest. But if you’re the type to cut your exes off and move on, then shut the f— up!” she said.
It seems like Issa is on the side of out of sight out of mind.
But she didn’t just stop there. Rae sat down with “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert to clear up a juicy rumor about her and ChampagnePapi aka Drake.
Right after the Golden Globes, a story went around saying Rae refused to hang out with Drake after he invited her to a Netflix after party. But Issa, a die-hard Drake fan, said that was not the case at all. The conversation begins at the 3:16 mark.
“I was headed to the HBO party as I should, and he was leaving the HBO party and so we crossed paths,” Rae said to Colbert. “He said the most magical words ever.”
“What?” Colbert asked.
“He was like. I’ve been looking for you all night,” Rae responds.
She said that because she had to attend the HBO party instead of the Netflix party, she was unable to take him up on their offer, but she would never directly tell Drake “no.” She said she eventually ended up at the Netflix party.
Just a few weeks after the Golden Globes, Rae appeared in Drake’s “Nice For What” video so we’re guessing they did eventually link up.
