She Tried It! Urban Decay Beached Eyeshadow Palette

August 8, 2018  |

The Urban Decay Beached Eyeshadow Palette ($34.00, Ulta.com) is the summer palette that every Black girl needs. The palette comes in eight pigmented shades that build beautifully on the eye.

The colors are true to the picture and have just the right amount of shimmer that will have people looking deep into your eyes and complimenting the color. The eyeshadow doesn’t melt off and even after wearing it for 8 hours, I didn’t have any creasing or smudging (I didn’t even have to use an eyeshadow primer).

My favorite shades in the palette are between the Double Dip (a teal that reminds me of the waters in Greece) and 16th Street (a beautiful gold that mixes beautifully with the other colors in the palette and stands alone well, too). I admit, when I first got the palette, I was a bit skeptical about how many looks I would be able to pull off…and I’ve done many.

I’ve been obsessed with the blue eyeliner trend for the past year. From Yara Shahidi to Janelle Monae to Issa Rae, these Black beauties illustrate that blue eyeliner looks great on darker skin tones. The under the eye blue eyeliner trend is an easy way to up your beauty look in an effortless way that pops.

Double Dip in the UD Beached Palette collection is perfect to mimic this trend and has become a summer staple for me. You can wear it by itself or like I did above pairing it with 16th Street. The gold-copper color is the perfect gold for our skin tone. It doesn’t come off too bright or yellow and looks so luxurious on!

The colors also build well together. I blended out Double Dip on top of the 16th street on my top lid to give me a blue smokey eye. (It just felt right with this peacock pattern dress).

The palette also shines when paired with a strong red lip. Heatwave (the third color in the palette) looks great alone with a cat eye and a red lip or mixed with 16th Street and a little Wedge (the metallic brown) to create a smokey eye. Another thing I love about this palette is that there is minimal fallout when applying.

I highly recommend this palette. I normally travel with at least three palettes and for my past two trips, I’ve only traveled with this one (seriously). Yes, you need another palette and it’s this one!
