YG respects the Girl Code.

The Compton rapper donated $150,000 to Girl Code LA, a startup company that hopes to close the gender gap in the coding field.

“Gender bias plays a role in the amount of exposure students receive in regards to technology and coding,” YG told Billboard in a statement. “This leads to influence future decisions within their field, creating smaller opportunities for diversity. With my donation, I hope they’ll be able to expand their reach of future female coders and programmers. I want to make sure I’m doing my part, I got a daughter and I respect the G Code.”

The “Big Bank” rapper also gifted young ladies with free Beats by Dre headphones during a mentoring session about nontraditional career paths.

Girl Code LA offers hands-on training in computer science and software engineering to its participants through its summer retreat, year-round seminars, coding programs and mentorships.  They also host a gala each year here book scholarships are gifted to three lucky winners.
