(Chicago Sun Times) — For the last two years, Cook County seniors haven’t had to renew their senior citizen property tax exemption each year. But starting next year, they’ll have to because of a provision of the new property tax relief law — a provision Gov. Quinn hopes will be nixed before it takes effect.
The new requirement affects more than 284,000 senior homeowners age 65 and older and applies exclusively to Cook County.
