While most of us know the idea of having it all is a farce, it doesn’t stop us from still trying to be a mom, a wife, and a career woman, and be at the top of our game in each of those areas at the same time. But before we can even get that point, there are tough decisions we have to make. Do you ruthlessly pursue career aspirations and pray a man will show up along the way? Or do you give a little less to your job and make finding a husband your 9-to-5?
Angela Bassett may seem to have it all now, but she knows something about making that choice between family and career. She told us in a recent interview that she made a plan to go hard professionally from age 18-29 and then get around to the family thing, but just as she was approaching that age she got her big break in Hollywood, landing the role of Stella in How Stella Got Her Groove Back and Tina Turner in What’s Love Got To Do With It. So how did Ms. Bassett keep winning in the acting biz while balancing marriage and kids? Check out the interview above to see what she told us about the idea of having it all and the tough calls you sometimes have to make.
