Paterson Rejects Latest Higher-Ed Bill Compromise

(AP) – Gov. David Paterson is rejecting the Legislature’s latest compromise on his proposal to give New York’s public universities greater autonomy and the authority to raise tuition without legislative approval.  Paterson spokesman Morgan Hook said the Legislature’s proposal requires more work and more details before it is acceptable. Legislative officials say those details are already being negotiated.
