(Wall Street Journal) — U.S. stocks rose, buoyed by encouraging earnings from energy companies and a drop in jobless claims. A round of better-than-expected quarterly reports, strong European economic data and a decline in initial jobless claims helped investors find confidence a day after the market struggled to find direction. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 79 points, or 0.8%, to 10578, in early trading.
