Yvettte Nicole Brown Will Be Interim Host Of Talking Dead Amid Chris Hardwick Sexual Assault Allegation

Although this is good news amid troubling news, actress Yvette Nicole Brown will be the interim host of Talking Dead, the aftershow for AMC’s popular zombie-apocalypse series The Walking Dead.

Brown will also host the upcoming season nine preview special of the science fiction show.

In AMC’s official statement on Friday, Brown’s new roles were announced, with the network explaining that this is only a temporary replacement while they “assess” the emotional abuse and sexual assault allegation against its former host, Chris Hardwick.

“Yvette Nicole Brown will step in as an interim guest host of The Walking Dead Season 9 Preview Special on August 5 and Talking Dead when it returns following the premiere of Fear the Walking Dead on August 12, as we work to complete our assessment related to Chris Hardwick,” it read.

On June 15, Chloe Dykstra, an ex-girlfriend of Hardwick’s and actress in the SyFy show Heroes of Cosplay, wrote a damning essay for Medium about a somewhat famous man she was with for three years who would forbid her from going out, speaking to other men, and sexually assaulting her. Although she doesn’t specifically name Hardwick, her description of this man fit him to a T.

Hardwick felt the heat, and he released a statement that day, denying the emotional and sexual abuse Dykstra claimed she suffered.

“These are very serious allegations and not to be taken lightly which is why I’ve taken the day to consider how to respond,” he wrote. “I was heartbroken to read Chloe’s post. Our three year relationship was not perfect—we were ultimately not a good match and argued—even shouted at each other—but I loved her, and did my best to uplift and support her as a partner and companion in any way and at no time did I sexually assault her.”

I have to admit that I have fallen off The Walking Dead wagon. But with Brown as host of Talking Dead, I just might be tuning in to hear her smart and funny commentary, which she had been serving as a regular guest host for awhile now.

Does this hosting change make you want to tune in?
