Black Lawmakers Defend Rangel Ahead of Ethics Panel Hearing

(WSJ) — Black lawmakers came to the defense of Rep. Charles Rangel (D., N.Y.) Monday, as he prepared for a face-to-face confrontation with the House ethics committee this week.  Democratic leaders have been quietly pressuring Mr. Rangel to strike a deal in advance of Thursday’s hearing before the Committee on Standards of Official Conduct, more commonly called the ethics committee.
