In Daddy News: Mike Colter And Wife Expecting, Ne-Yo And Crystal Smith Welcome Son And More
Father’s Day may have been on Sunday, but the daddy news continues to roll in as we approach the weekend. Babies have been born, their future arrivals have been announced, and more is going on, so we thought we’d give you a quick rundown.
The most recent news is that Luke Cage star Mike Colter and wife Iva are expecting their second child, another girl to join daughter Naiella, 3. The couple stepped out for the premiere event of Season 2 of his Netflix hit on Thursday night, and it was there that she showed off a belly of six months pregnant.
“We are feeling happy but a bit nervous as well. It’s a new member of the family,” the couple said in a statement to PEOPLE.
“While it will shift focus for us again, our daughter will probably be affected the most, so we are making sure she feels comfortable and excited with the change to our growing family.”
On the flipside, singer Ne-Yo and wife Crystal Smith welcomed their second son late last week (his fourth). Born Roman Alexander-Raj Smith, their newest baby boy was welcomed into the world weighing six pounds, 15 ounces and measuring at 19 inches in length. And Smith, who was hoping to try a vaginal birth after having a Cesarean, required another C-section, as she told Instagram followers that their son was under stress in the womb:
When asked how he’s adjusting to baby Alexander, Ne-Yo told Page Six he isn’t getting much sleep, but he’s okay with that.
“He makes four. I have four children now, three boys and a girl and I’m loving every minute of it,” he said. “I love being a dad. It’s fulfilling in a way that I honestly didn’t anticipate. My joy used to be being out on the road, moving around. Now I just want to be home with kids.”
Lance Gross and wife Rebecca are awaiting the arrival of their second child. And to celebrate him/her, the parents grabbed their daughter, Berkeley, and had a family-fun filled maternity shoot. It’s sure to give you all the feels.
Lastly, many are still mourning the death of rapper XXXTentacion, born Jahseh Dwayne Onfroy. He was shot and killed on June 18 outside of a motorcycle dealership in Pompano Beach, Fla. during what is being called a botched robbery attempt by police. But there is good news for his family. Not only was one of the individuals accused of taking part in the robbery arrested and charged this week, but also, according to the late rapper’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, who has been using his social media to update his fans, he has a baby on the way and knew about it before his death:
The sonogram was shared in April, so this child is due in November. Funeral arrangements, as well as memorial plans, are pending for the rapper.
