Michael B. Jordan Hit Up Children Of Blood And Bone Author Tomi Adeyemi’s DMs And She’s Still Pinching Herself

What would you do if you opened up your social media account and saw a message from Michael B. Jordan?

For writer Tomi Adeyemi, she tells whoever will listen that it happened because she’s still pinching herself.

While Jordan gets a number of DMs daily (and some he actually responds to), he decided to slide into the messages of the Children of Blood and Bone author to show her love. The release of her YA novel in March was much anticipated, allowing it to hit number one on The New York Times best-seller list. Fox 2000 even acquired the rights to the first installment of the fantasy novel trilogy for a reported seven figures, making it one of the biggest deals for a debut YA novel ever and leaving people asking if Adeyemi is the next J.K. Rowling. Because of that, she’s found herself with many fans, and many reminders that, mama, she made it. But the love from Jordan is something she still can’t believe.

“The craziest thing was Michael B. Jordan DMed me congrats and I was like, ‘Thanks,’ and he responded,” she told POPSUGAR. “I go to speak at schools and I like to tell them what people told me: ‘You can do it.’ But then I say, ‘And Michael B. Jordan DMed me’ and they always go ‘What?!’ and this gets the students really inspired.”

Hearing that your dreams are tangible is cool, but nothing gets young people excited like hearing that fine ass Killmonger slid in your DMs as a result of your hard work.

And funny enough, Adeyemi told Jordan that she included him in her talks with students (she sent him a picture of her PowerPoint slide and everything), and the Creed actor was appreciative.

“He said ‘Wow, that’s awesome’ and I’m like ‘You replied to me’ and then I think ‘Tomi, I’m famous now,'” she said. “That’s the most pinch me moment for sure.”
