Amber Rose has been an advocate for women in many ways since launching her anti-slut shamming campaign and its accompanying Slut Walk. Now the former stripper, model, and activist is taking up another cause related to women: size inclusivity.
Amber and plus-size retailer Simply Be are joining forces on a 25-piece capsule collection that will be available in sizes 6-32 so that no woman is left out.
“After I had my son I was 202 pounds and it took me almost a year to lose the weight,” Amber, who is mom to 5-year-old son Sebastian, told People.com. “So I was wearing plus-size for a while and I found it very difficult to find easy pieces to throw on that I felt comfortable in.” Speaking of her collection, she added, “I just love that it comes in all shapes and sizes. I’m very body positive and I didn’t want to leave any girl out, so we have all sizes for every shape of women. That’s pretty much why I wanted to do this line with them.”
Simply Be is a UK-based retailer that relaunched internationally earlier this year. The majority of its clothing comes in sizes 8-28 at an affordable price point, and Amber’s collection will be no different. Every piece is between $25 and $40.
“I’m a mom, I work a lot. I wanted to have easy pieces that I could dress up or dress down and add accessories to them and wear while on-the-go. I wanted something convenient for girls, to kind of flow on and still look fabulous.”
There will be a wide range of items as well, from body-con dresses to body suits, cropped tops, and leggings, all with the goal of helping women feel “sexy, stylish and confident” as well as “empowered [to] love their bodies, celebrate their curves and be the best versions of their true selves,” Amber said in a statement.
