Tyrese Prevents Ex Wife From Taking His Daughter To Israel
As we reported earlier, Tyrese is attempting to gain primary custody of his daughter Shayla. The petition to the court comes after a bizarre child custody battle that took place last year. Spawned by Tyrese spanking his daughter to the point where she couldn’t sit, according to her mother, she filed for sole custody.
Norma Gibson lost and the two parents share custody of their daughter. But recently Tyrese filed for primary custody of his daughter, requesting that she move to Atlanta where she’ll live with his wife and her new sister who will be born in September.
Since then, the two parents have had to return to court to discuss another matter.
According to The Blast, Tyrese’s legal team rushed to the court to prevent Norma from taking their daughter to Israel. His attorneys argued that in light of recent events—mainly the relocation of the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Norma Gibson appeared in court for the emergency hearing, hoping the judge would allow her to take her daughter to Israel.
Tyrese’s attorneys argued that there was no emergency reason for Shayla to be in Israel and expressed Tyrese’s concerns for his daughter’s safety.
The judge not only granted the request but also ruled that Norma turns over Shayla’s passport, preventing her from leaving the country at all.
Sources close to Tyrese believe his recent request for custody is what spawned the trip to Israel.
But given the fact that Norma is both American and Israeli in heritage, there is also a good chance that she was taking her daughter to visit family or learn more about her culture. Who knows. Either way, that plan is canceled.
