Tyrese Requests To Move Daughter To Atlanta…Away From Mother
It seems like Tyrese is at his breaking point with ex-wife Norma Gibson.
According to TMZ, Tyrese has filed legal documents requesting primary custody of his 10-year-old daughter Shayla. He and Norma are currently sharing custody, but The Fast and Furious star says that she is restricting his custodial time with their daughter.
So, he’s not only requesting primary custody, but he wants to move his daughter to Atlanta…away from her mother.
According to the docs, Tyrese claims that he will be able to provide a “stable and loving” environment for Shayla in his Atlanta mansion. He mentioned that the 23,000 sq. ft. home is in an “affluent and safe neighborhood” and added that Shayla already has quite a life already established. She has her own room and plenty of friends to make the adjustment easier.
Shayla currently lives in Los Angeles with Norma, but Tyrese points out that Atlanta would also provide a freer lifestyle for a child who’s dad happens to be a celebrity.
According to The Blast, Tyrese said, “In Atlanta … we are free to move around the city without being harassed or photographed.”
And as for Tyrese being an actor, a lifestyle that requires a lot of traveling, the 39-year-old will not be on the road as much since the ninth installment of The Fast and Furious will shoot in Atlanta. This will allow him to be a present parent, something that he also argues in order to obtain primary custody.
It is quite sad that Tyrese and Norma have not been able to amicably share custody, but Tyrese says there have been at least two episodes when Shayla was sick, and one time, Norma only contacted him to get insurance information but didn’t provide him with a diagnosis. Basically, he feels like Norma is controlling his relationship with their daughter.
“[She] will continue to interfere in my relationship and my custodial time with Shayla and will not facilitate my relationship with her,” Tyrese said as reported by “The Blast.”
We will wait and see how the judge rules on this one, folks.
