Summer is a few weeks away, and what better way to kick off the season of fun, vacations and Vitamin D than by practicing some seasonal self-care? While self-care should be an every day thing, summer is a great time to amp up our pampering and cater to ourselves a little more. All-year round we are caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life, but this season is the time time to get the rest, relaxation and the recharging we all could use.
These 10 self-care tips are sure to help you make the most out of this short upcoming summer season.
Book That Vacation
We all get caught up in the daily grind, forgetting to schedule some much-needed “me” time. Book that vacation you’ve been putting off all year. Find a hidden treasure city you’ve been dreaming of, book the flight, get a hotel (or even better, an Airbnb) and be on your way!
Wherever the Water Is, Head There
There’s nothing better than lying out in the sun, surrounded by water, sand and sunlight. Schedule some time for tanning or take a dip in the pool and you’re sure to feel refreshed and rejuvenated.
A massage always does the body good. Schedule your appointment for some much-needed pampering. Get the mani, get the pedi, and get the rest you deserve.
Take Advantage of Early Work Dismissal
For those at jobs that offer early work dismissal, often known as “Summer Fridays,” take full advantage of it. This is the perfect opportunity to meet up with friends, catch an early evening show or movie, or hit up your local happy hour for some drinks. Some time out of the office will get you in the right mood for the weekend.
Get Some Vitamin D
Vitamin D is good for the body and the soul. This summer, get outside as much as you can. Take a walk in the park. Catch some rays on a rooftop. Go out and get some sunlight, sis. Your body will thank you for it.
Take Part in the Festivals
A concert or festival is the perfect outlet to help you let loose. Look up your local concerts or your favorite artists who might be coming to town and snatch up that ticket.
Make Time for Exercise
Just because you finally got your summer body doesn’t mean you should stop working out. Exercise isn’t all about how you look. It’s also about how you feel, and working out will leave you feeling great. Take a jog through the park or do some yoga. Whatever your workout of choice, get your body and mind right this summer season.
Don’t Forget to Eat Healthy
I know summertime is full of late-night dinners and cookouts, but don’t forget to include water, fruits and vegetables into your diet. It’s all fun and games until your health is affected by reckless eating habits. Ice cream cones and other summer-friendly treats are great, but please, everything in moderation.
Do Something You’ve Never Done
When’s the last time you did something for the first time? This summer, try something completely new. Do something you never thought you would do (a safe thing of course). Whether that be taking a new class, experiencing a new place or trying something outside of your comfort zone, take the risk and don’t look back.
Take full advantage of every long day and longer night these warm months have to offer. Make the most out of every experience and make memories to last a lifetime.
