Although I’m not a huge trendy girl, I’m definitely a fan of bardot clothing. Also known as the off-the-shoulder trend, bardot clothes not only accentuate your shoulders, but are just the amount of trendy paired with timelessness depending on the piece you snag. Plus, sometimes you’re not in the mood to show TOO much skin, but staying fully covered up in 90-degree weather isn’t fun for anyone. You can wear them in classic colors or in wild and crazy prints, and the limits are endless on the options and class levels you want to go. For spring, here are a few options you can add to your wardrobe.
A lace-trimmed bardot dress, like this $487 one from Self Portrait, is absolute perfection if you’re searching for something that is feminine as well as classy and elegant. And considering a LBD is needed in every wardrobe, you can snag this $537 Tibi bardot silk dress that’s also made for a looser cut. And if neither white nor black tickle your fancy, this red lacy number from Marchesa ( which retails at $556) is definitely for those moments you want to feel sexy and sultry. Oh, and who can deny this $4,950 Valentino mini dress, which, despite its high price point, is a dress that you literally will look like a star in. Every. Time.
An off-the-shoulder midi dress, like this $132 one from Eberjey, is perfect for spring picnics or days out in the countryside. The color is gorgeous and easily matches and pairs with other things you probably already have in your closet. This $99 Bobbi stripped dress is also a great option if you’re into the chic, tailored fit and in need of a piece that goes with a ton of stuff.
Snag a shirt-dress from Revolve, like this cute stripped dress from for about $60. If you’ve got a few more dollars, you can grab this $75 floral number that gives you high-low hemlines and cuts. A bodacious-blue one-shoulder dress, like this $65 Lucia option, is great for 70s and 80s vibes on and off the dance floor. And lastly, cascade like a beautiful goddess in this frilly cold-shoulder dress from Elle, which not only is a steal at $78, but definitely worth it considering you’ll be wearing it all summer long.
For super classy nights, rock this $109 thigh-slitted gown from Morgan & Company and throw on some strappy heels with your favorite clutch and dangly earrings. For nights out with your friends, this $40 Boohoo shift dress is just what you need, which you can collab with some trusty sneakers or trendy sandals. If you’re down to show a bit of leg and shoulder, this $35 skater dress from ASOS is affordable and timeless, or even this tiered dress from Ashley Stewart that has bell sleeves. So you KNOW that’s an instant win.
For the extremely daring, this $475 barely-there bardot top from Johanna Ortiz can go with any and everything in your wardrobe because it’s black. Plus, the fluffy sleeves add a bit of dimension and texture, so the top is far from boring. Another top for the daring, this time if you’re into more color, is this $556 Dolce & Gabbana number, which gives off all the fiesta vibes with its beautiful vibrancy and color. If you’d prefer to keep it calm, cool, and collected, then go for this cold-shoulder top from Theory. Easy. Simple. And still chic.
Go for a cute, stripped poplin top with some personality, like this $80 one from J.Crew. Pair it with white pants or even shorts, and you’ve easily got a look for spring. You can also go for a floral bardot top, like this $79 chic printed one from Bloomingdales, elasticized at the shoulders and beautifully colored with pink and red. You can even go for a look where only one shoulder is out, like this cute top from Helmut Lang, made out of a stretchy jersey material and easily wearable with some cute trousers or culottes.
Go simple and rouched with this $32 top from Topshop, or even this inexpensive $15 printed option from the brand. Both pieces can be paired with matching or contrasting prints, solid colors, or even re-vibed with similar, monochromatic colors. There’s also this $49 remade crop top from Urban Outfitters, which would look SO chic with denim. ASOS has this gorgeous $19 option that has a wrap front and is super simple with the off-the-shoulder vibe, which is good if you want to jump into the trend but not fully all the way in.
There’s a ton of shirts you can snag for work, play, and all in-between. This $23 striped one from Forever 21 is a wardrobe essential that you can really wear every day of the week in a different way! A $12 option from Ashley Stewart is also possible, and given that it’s white, it can go with everything you already have in your clothing bag, or the more expensive (but equally chic) option, like this $80 knockout from Graham & Spencer. And lastly, if you’re into florals, this $18 top from Forever21 works well to fulfill your needs as well as resonate inexpensively (which is great when you’re working on a budget).
What do you guys think? Are you rocking any chic off-the-shoulder cuts for spring?
