“The Worst Is Yet To Come”: Meghan Markle & Other Stars Whose Family Members Caused Wedding Drama
Tracey Edmonds and Eddie Murphy
Fourteen days after marrying on New Year’s Day in 2008, Eddie Murphy and Tracey Edmonds decided to call it quits. Rumors swirled via sources that his mother was not a fan of Tracey, and there were arguments, even right before the wedding, about her hesitance to change her last name (she wanted it to continue to match the last name of her children with singer Babyface). Whatever was the straw that broke the camel’s back, when they returned from their honeymoon, after a ceremony that conveniently wasn’t legally binding, they were able to agree to call it quits.
“After much consideration and discussion, we have jointly decided that we will forgo having a legal ceremony as it is not necessary to define our relationship further,” the pair stated through a statement from their reps. “While the recent symbolic union in Bora Bora was representative of our deep love, friendship and respect that we have for one another on a spiritual level, we have decided to remain friends.”
