Jasmine Harrison, 17, has been accepted to 113 colleges out of the 115 she applied to and received $4.5 million in merit-based scholarships.
“It was overwhelming at first because there were so many options,” she told the New York Times. “I could go anywhere, and discover who I am.”
The North Carolina native applied to schools in states like Colorado, Mississippi, Maryland and Florida but in the end she decided to stay in her hometown. Out of the 26 HBCUs she got accepted to, Harrison has decided to attend Bennett College in Greensboro, NC with a full-ride scholarship.
She was also awarded full rides to Ed Waters College in Jacksonville, FL and Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, MS.
Seton Hall University in New Jersey and the University of South Carolina were the only two schools to turn Harrison down.
After graduating with her 4.0 GPA, she will head to Bennett College to study biology.
