Should Wendy Williams Interview R. Kelly?

Wendy Williams has a history of asking the questions we all want to know. Essentially, she seems virtually unfazed by celebrity and is willing and unafraid to ask questions about what the people want to know. She asked her audience about whether or not they would be interested in hearing her interview the embattled R&B singer. No one had any objections.

But I do. Wendy Williams is notorious for victim blaming. She has argued that Kelly’s marriage to Aaliyah, when she was 15 years old, was consensual. Basically, she’s one of those older Black women who blames them fast-tailed girls rather than the predatory men. She is the same woman who didn’t believe Keke Palmer’s claims that Trey Songz mistreated her—just because. Men get a pass from Wendy. And by the way she described her meeting with Kelly as loving—I’m sure she would take those same notions into the interview.

Unless R. Kelly says he’s ready to confess his past behaviors and turn himself in to the authorities, I can’t see how it would be useful.
