Kendrick Lamar has seen a major surge in record sales after being awarded the Pulitzer Prize this month. Receiving that honor reportedly led to sales of his last album, DAMN, increasing by 236 percent. Billboard reports DAMN sold an additional 11,000 copies the week of April 19th.
The Compton emcee is the first non-classical or jazz musician to win this award.
This soar in album sales placed K. Dot back in the top 10 of the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Top Rap Albums chart.
DAMN has sold more 3.5 million copies, including digital streams, since its April 17th. 2017 release.
Lamar didn’t comment on the win, probably because he is gearing up for the “The Championship Tour” with his Top Dawg Entertainment comrades, which kicks off May 5th in Auburn, WA.
