With instances like Starbucks and Waffle House, there are plenty of reasons to support Black businesses. And with Black women representing the fastest growing group of entrepreneurs, there are plenty of options. With that in mind, my friend Andrea Reed, my sister Vanessa Wells and I started a collective: Uptown Underground Market.

The market seeks to empower Black women who own and operate their own businesses.

In addition to the vendors, we’re also partnering with a non-profit organization “For Girls By Girls” who collect distribute feminine sanitary products. So if you’re able to make it, feel free to bring products that could help someone in need.

Next Saturday, May 5, we’re hosting another event featuring some of the following vendors. Check them out and if you’re in the New York City area, you can RSVP (for free) to attend the event here.
