“I Did This For ME!!”: Danielle Brooks Completes Epic Spartan Race Obstacle Course
If you’re looking for a challenge to really test your strength and endurance, then an obstacle race needs to be on your bucket list.
Reebok’s Spartan Race is one in particular that’s very popular, and a few of your favorites have taken part in it. That includes Alicia Keys and Serena Williams, who recently teamed up with her husband, Alexis Ohanian, to tackle the race months before her official return to tennis. And just this past weekend, Orange Is the New Black star Danielle Brooks joined the list of ladies who’ve tackled the Spartan Race.
With her trainer, Morit Summers, and friends by her side, the 28-year-old completed what she called one of the hardest physical challenges she’s ever faced. In the end, it reminded her that she when she pushes herself and her body, Brooks can accomplish just about anything.
“I did this for ME!! I completed my first @spartan race yesterday,” she shared on Instagram. “It was by far the hardest thing physically I’ve ever done, but I worked for a few months with my trainer @moritsummers to get there. I learned so many valuable lessons by pushing myself even in the midst of doubt! I proved to myself I could, and I did.”

Thanks @moritsummers I truly love you and appreciate you reminding me their are more rewarding goals in life than chasing a number on a scale. Depending on your fitness level and pace, some people can complete the Spartan Race in under an hour, while others require a few hours. But for Brooks, as she stated, she worked out for months with her longtime trainer in order to prepare her body for the requirements of the race. Some of those workouts were documented and shared in the hopes of encouraging others:
Brooks may be known as the “Voice of the Curves,” but she definitely trains to keep those curves right and tight and to be as healthy as possible. Hence her ability to slay everything, including the notoriously tough Spartan Race.
