Amara La Negra Is Rocking Bantu Knots Right Now And They’re Dope
Every now and then a girl has to take a break from her signature style and switch up her hair a bit, and that’s what Amara La Negra is currently doing this weekend. The Dominican singer is know for her large, fluffy ‘fro which she proudly rocks a a symbol of her afrolatinidad, but right now, the Miami-born beauty is rocking another style with roots just as deep: Bantu knots.
Amara debuted the look on her Instagram last night while she was in the studio recording. And in one of her Instagram stories, she told followers, “Don’t judge me because I have a really big forehead, yes, pero you know what they say about the girls with the big forehead…” Slurping sounds ensued before she wrapped up her point with an “exzaaaactly.” (Side note: I never heard that rumor.)
Anyway, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen Amara La Negra switch up her crown since she gained mainstream fame. In January she hit us with a sleek bob on the ‘gram and she’s also rocked jumbo Havana twists, a white pixie cut, and plenty of other looks you can see here.
Bantu knots, of course, are a signature look of the women of the Zulu tribes of South Africa so it’s nice to see that even when she takes a break from her ‘fro, Amara is still repping.
