I already see the confusion on your face – Not Vanessa L. Williams, former Miss America.

We’re talking about Vanessa Williams, the actress who played the only black female character on Melrose Place. And if you didn’t watch Melrose Place, then you may remember her as Keisha in New Jack City.

Both actresses played in Soul Food, but L. was in the film version while the one we’re talking about was in the Showtime TV series.

Now that we’ve cleared that up, Williams filed for divorce from Andre Wiseman, her husband of about 25 years, on Monday. And according to TMZ, this isn’t her first time filing.

But before digging into the story a bit deeper, Williams even wants TMZ to put some respek on her name, writing on Twitter “THERE IS NO MIDDLE INITIAL IN MY NAME.”

Williams initially filed in 2008 after the couple went through a period of separation, but the divorce was dismissed in 2017 with speculation that she allowed it to lapse.

In her refiled documents, the actress is asking for joint physical and legal custody of their 14-year-old son.

She has made no other comment about the divorce, which makes it seem that she indeed is going through with it. Twenty-five years is a long time to be with someone, but based off her social media, she is still truckin’ along in her career.

The 54-year-old currently plays Ida Turner in Famous in Love, a TV drama series on Freeform centered around a college student who gets a big break in the entertainment industry. The second season premiered on April 4, which is good news for Williams. That bag is definitely secure.

But that’s just one – she is also shooting another project that she’s been promoting on her social media with the hashtag #somewhereinharlem. It’s no secret that the New York born and bred artist loves working in her hometown.

So, I wish her all the luck in her career, and hopefully, she is blessed with a stress-free divorce process (fingers crossed).
