Oil became a dirty word when it came to our faces thanks to the plethora of oil-free skincare products on the market and the belief that oil would cause breakouts. But the truth is oils can actually combat increased sebum production, which is what causes oily skin, and they have a host of other benefits from moisturizing skin to anti-inflammatory properties which can actually reduce acne.

But like the majority of beauty products, face oils can get costly, whether you’re looking for an item to gently remove makeup and cleanse skin or add hydration as the last step in your skincare routine. But, like with our hair, you can create your own face oil combinations at home and save cash on top of cash if you do. And HudaBeauty founder Huda Kattan has done us all a huge favor by showing us how to craft our own unique concoctions on YouTube.

In a post on her site, Huda explained cost is what led her to play around with the idea of creating her own face oils.

“We started experimenting and mixed some of our go-to oils (like grapeseed oil, rose oil, jojoba oil, and rosehip seed oil), and the results were mind-blowing,” she wrote. “Not only is a DIY face oil 100% OG (something HBHQ is all about), but by combining your fav natural oils, you can target your skin’s unique needs by creating a face oil with natural oils that pack the right benefits for you. And the best part? It’ll take you less than 60 seconds to make. It’s a skincare game changer. “

The key, Huda added is using “high-quality oils, preferably cold-pressed organic, which means it hasn’t been processed using any harmful toxins.” She added, “Combining your natural oils will make a far more effective potion, so you won’t have to apply as much product and they’ll last a lot longer.”

Check out the video below to see how Huda put her oils together and check out her site for the detailed recipes for skin that’s oily, dry, combo, or mature.
