Family Of Little Girl Petrified By Easter Bunny In Viral Video Feels Their Trust Has Been Violated
If you were on the internet around Easter, you may have seen the viral video of a toddler being absolutely terrified by the appearance of the Easter Bunny in her classroom. I mean, this baby was screaming and was trying to flea the scene.
The video has become so popular, someone even edited it to make the Easter Bunny Donald Trump walking into the room.
And while many folks got a good chuckle out of it, the girl’s family is outraged.
The child featured in the video is two-year-old Surai, of Kissimmee Florida. Her grandmother, Mary Bryson-Robinson spoke to Click Orlando about what she thinks of the footage.
“When we did see it, it already had gone everywhere. Any place you look on the internet, my granddaughter is there. I’m looking at just pure horror in her face, and I’m wondering, ‘How could that be on the internet for anything good?’”
Bryson-Robinson said that when she picked her granddaughter up from daycare, the Around the World Learning Center, she had been informed that Surai was afraid of the life-size Easter Bunny they had appear in the classroom. But they didn’t say anything else.
They didn’t tell her that Surai’s reaction to the bunny had been filmed and shared on Snapchat. The appearance of their child on the internet represented a particular violation because the family signed a waiver that specifically prohibited staff from taking or sharing footage or photos of Surai.
Bryson-Robinson said, “My granddaughter looked petrified. Her face changed. It was not the same child that I dropped off that day or the child that I know. For a bunny of that size to appear, I’m sure it scared the daylights out of her.”
To add insult to injury, Bryson-Robinson said that the video has invited all types of unwanted comments about Surai, even racially tinged ones.
Surai’s grandmother is particularly troubled by the fact that none of the staff went to comfort Surai when she was obviously frightened.
An employee at the daycare said the incident was being investigated but when Click Orlando called to follow up, the owner of the Around the World Learning Center said she had no comment.
Surai’s family has decided to remove her from the daycare due to what they describe as a breach of trust.
With proof of their desire not to have Surai filmed, it would be very easy for this family to sue.
