Is this a new boo for #LaverneCox? Congrats, if so!

The question is obviously a silly one. Of course this is her new boo! For a woman of her stature to post a photo like this, she’s clearly OK with her almost three million followers knowing that this is who she is into at the moment.

Laverne hasn’t shared his name yet, but in an interview with Access Hollywood recently, the 45-year-old said that her “current boyfriend” accepted an unconventional rule that she has about first dates – never put in a lot of effort for someone you don’t even know yet.

“My current boyfriend, I showed up on the date with like no makeup and some jean shorts and it worked out,” she said. “We’re still together, it’s amazing…I’m in love.”

And it’s been working out for about eight months, so I would agree that posting a photo in an insta-story is worth being shared.

Last year, Laverne opened up about staying in an abusive relationship because she didn’t believe that anyone else would love a black trans woman. When she realized that wasn’t the case, she returned to believing that love, the kind that includes respect, could be real for her. And it’s so wonderful to see that in her current relationship, she has what she was hoping for.

“I’m in love, yeah, it’s incredible. Love is so incredibly healing. I’m so happy. When you’re happy you kind of just want to love — love is lifesaving,” she declared.
