Kenya Moore Confirms Pregnancy, But Won’t Go Into Details “Because I’m Still Very Nervous About Everything”
If you watched any of Sunday night’s Real Housewives of Atlanta reunion, then you know that not only did Kenya Moore come out of the house with some of the best shady clapbacks you ever did hear, but the 47-year-old newlywed also confirmed that she is indeed with child.
This big news was shared within the first few minutes of the first part of the reunion, when Andy Cohen asked her, “Any word on a baby twirl?”
Kenya responded in a coy manner at first, laughing before saying, “Well she wouldn’t be named Twirl, that’s my dog’s name. But, yes.”
When that didn’t really provide a clear answer, co-star Porsha Williams asked, “Yes, you’re pregnant?”
“Is that a question?” she said before finally letting the cat out of the bag.
“We will definitely be welcoming a boy or girl in late this year.”
The women burst out in applause at the news (everyone on the couch except Sheree Whitfield, who did more of a slow nod acknowledgement). Her cast members were shocked and excited at the same time.
“Are you serious?!” NeNe Leakes asked. “Don’t play with us, Kenya.”
“I wouldn’t play about anything like that,” she said.
When asked how far along she is in her pregnancy, Moore, who was glowing during the reunion, said she didn’t want to talk about that because she wanted to get to a certain point before sharing such information.
“Well I don’t want to talk about the details because I’m still very nervous about everything,” she said. “So I just want to get past a safe place.”
This is understandable. More and more women are waiting until their pregnancy progresses to a certain point before sharing the news, or giving out too many details. Moore is of an age where a pregnancy is deemed more “high risk,” so she’s chosen to be cautious. Waiting until after week 12, which is near the end of the first trimester, and after the first prenatal appointment where you can see the baby and hear the heartbeat, is a new norm for sharing baby news. Still, there is nothing wrong with being excited and spilling the beans as soon as you know. It’s whatever floats the boats of the parents.
Anywho, as for Moore, when asked if she had a preference, the reality star said it didn’t matter to her if she had a boy or girl.
“I want a healthy baby.”
This is the first time that Moore has said out of her own mouth that she is expecting, though rumors have swirled for quite some time, including after she and husband Marc Daly were seen in Barbados in November, and were reportedly there undergoing IVF treatments. After filming the reunion in March, when word got out that she revealed the big news, Moore would only say about it, “Never Give Up. Not an announcement just encouragement.”
But now that the secret is out, Moore can be thankful publicly, and that she is definitely doing:
