Preacher Co-Stars Ruth Negga And Dominic Cooper End 8-Year Relationship
As AMC’s TV series Preacher heads into its third season later this year, its co-stars Ruth Negga, 36, and Dominic Cooper, 39, won’t be headed into another chapter of their relationship.
According to Page Six, the pair called it quits after eight years of dating. But as couples in the public eye always say, the two will remain friends.
I’m a huge fan of the horror genre, so when Preacher premiered on AMC two years ago, I got my popcorn ready to watch the journey of a hella shady small-town preacher (played by Dominic), who inherits a supernatural ability to get people to do what he says.
But the surprise in the series came from Ruth’s character Tulip, the definition of a crazy ex-girlfriend, who wilds out a lot on the show.
After hearing that Ruth and Dominic dated, I could then understand why their on-screen chemistry is so strong. The two have also worked on other projects outside Preacher. They were in a UK National Theatre production of Phèdre in 2009 and the 2016 Universal video game adaptation Warcraft.
Considering that they are still contractually obligated to work together on Preacher, I hope that the magic they have created over the past few seasons isn’t compromised. I mean, there are plenty of Hollywood exes who still have to work together or at least see each other at events, so that shouldn’t be a huge problem. Besides, “pals” of the couple say that the relationship just ran its course. Who can’t relate to that?
Reps for the couple have not provided any comment, but I’m particularly rooting for Ruth to focus on copping an Oscar. The Ethiopian and Irish beauty was nominated for a best actress award for her portrayal of Mildred Loving in Loving. I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next for her.
