Winnie Harlow In Elle UK Is Just…
Remember last week when Winnie Harlow asked, “Do you see me suffering?” after The Evening Standard labeled her a “vitiligo sufferer“? I think it’s fair to ask that question again after seeing the model on the cover of Elle UK’s May issue. The beauty is the definition of living life in color as she stuns in Gucci and complementary pastel-colored makeup as the mag’s cover model.
According to Winnie, the shoot took place in Thailand and she was only in the country for 36 hours total which means it didn’t take long to make magic happen once she stepped in front of the cameras. And that’s evident from the photospread inside the mag.
In the issue, Winnie talks about the famous women in her circle who help her be the bomb role model that she is, one of whom is Nicki Minaj. Speaking of the rapper, Winnie said:
“Nicki Minaj is …is who I can rely on to keep it 100 percent real. She once called to say that if I ever had a problem, I shouldn’t hesitate to call and talk it through, as so much drama in our industries could be prevented with communication.”
Winnie also talked about ever-evolving beauty standards and her commitment to being her true self.
‘There is a big shift happening in the fashion industry in terms of beauty standards, and I feel I’m part of that shift,’ she said. ‘I remember on America’s Next Top Model, Tyra Banks asked me if a photographer told me to cover my skin for a shoot, would I do it? I said no. I don’t care who it is, or who thinks I should. I’m going to stay true to myself.’
