How Our Generation Is Changing Proposals
There have been some pretty interesting proposal trends over the years. Remember the famous scene in “Mickey Blue Eyes” when Hugh Grant’s character tries to get his proposal paper put inside his girlfriend’s fortune cookie at the Chinese restaurant? And another couple accidentally opens it? Then we all know stories of women chugging their glass of champagne, only to realize…there was something chunky that just went down their throat. The Kiss Cam at sports games were quite popular for a while. Or perhaps having a radio announcer pop the question for a person. There was even a large batch of fools who thought they should throw a surprise party for their beloved, and pop the question with all eyes on them, in a very high-pressure scenario. Of course, you know us millennials: we always have to be different. We hate the idea of being basic. Here is how millennials are changing proposals.
I don’t know that my mom’s generation would have wanted to be sweaty, exhausted, and suffering from blisters when their fiancés popped the question. But today, this hiking-fanatic generation loves to get down on one knee at the top of a hill, with water canisters and sunscreen in-tow. And possibly someone who has to pee in a bush.
