Want To Learn How To Rock The Latest Color Trends? There’s A Site For That
Color can be intimidating, whether you’re thinking about putting it on your face or your body. And when it comes to being on trend and knowing how to match the hottest shades of the season, it can be downright overwhelming. But help exists and it’s in the form of a website called Fashion Snoops.
The forecasting platform predicts which colors will be in style a full two years in advance of those shades hitting runways and department stores. But once those colors are in season, the site shows you how to wear them to work, on the weekends, and for special occasions. And because no one has money to buy a whole new wardrobe every three months, the site also shows you how to match this season’s it colors with staple items already in your closet.
This year, Fashion Snoops partnered with Dove to promote their Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant — because no one wants white deodorant marks on their bright yellow maxi dress. And to get a sense of how Fashion Snoops works and how Dove Invisible Dry Spray can keep you sweat and streak free, I was recently invited to be styled by Celebrity Stylist and Imaging Expert Zerina Akers.
When I arrived for my one-on-one appointment, Zerina had picked out a few options for me based on my clothing sizes which I had sent prior to our styling session. Immediately, my eyes zeroed in on this red, off-the-shoulder scuba material dress with ruffle sleeves because (a) it’s super fun and cute and (b) I’d been wanting a dress like this for more than a year now. (Sis knows what she’s doing.)
Power red is one of the 12 colors that’s in this season and there’s even a similar dress to the one I chose on the Fashion Snoops site which proved my look would be on trend in color and style. Sticking true to the color combination recommendations, Zerina picked out a nude strappy sandal for me to wear and a pair of long, dangling earrings made up of colorful stones which also featured the recommended color pairings of sand and blue bell along with a few other shades of lilac and brown.
To get the full effect of this unique fashion experience, the styling was topped off with a fun photo shoot. And since I made the switch from traditional stick deodorant to Dove Invisible Dry Spray Antiperspirant‘s when I first found out about them a year ago, my pits were already protected from perspiration and there was no residue rubbing off on my new dress when I changed in and out of it for the shoot. But I was still excited to learn there are two new scents in the Invisible Dry Spray line: Sheer Cool and Crystal Touch, neither of which leave white marks on 100 colors.
As someone who has a reputation for wearing black on black on black, it was fun to play with color during the shoot — even the background showed off two of this season’s biggest shades — and learning how to balance a bright power red with equally eye-catching, but not over-the-top accessories was critical. Thanks to Dove, Zerina, and Fashion Snoops for this experience!
