Toni Braxton’s Advice On Finding Love? “You Gotta Keep Your Friends Close. You Never Know What Can Happen”
After it was confirmed in a preview for the upcoming season of Braxton Family Values that Toni Braxton is indeed engaged to music mogul Bryan “Birdman” Williams, the 50-year-old singer is now being much more forthcoming about her wedding plans and their overall love story.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight this week, the singer said her love for Birdman grew from her friendship with the Cash Money Records boss.
“He and I have been friends for a really long time, for like 17 years and it just grew from friendship to more than that,” she said. “So you gotta keep your friends close. You never know what can happen.”
And now that she’s found love again, she’s also trying to find the right dress. Braxton, who is known for her revealing red carpet gowns, told ET that you can expect her look to be “appropriate but sexy” the second time down the aisle.
“The cake is important… and the dress,” she said. “I’m particular about the dress. I have to find something that’s appropriate but sexy at the same time.”
Braxton and Birdman have been engaged since late last year, and this is the second marriage for her. She was previously married to musician Keri Lewis, formerly of Mint Condition, from 2001 to 2013. They have two sons in 16-year-old Denim and Diezel, 14.
As for Williams, this is his first marriage. However, he has two children, Bryan Williams, Jr., born in 1997 and Bria Williams, born in 1998, from previous relationships.
He told Wendy Williams recently that Braxton is pretty much his soulmate.
“T, that’s my girl, my friend, my family… that’s my love, my soldier, my life,” he said. “She’s my life. I love her to death.”
