As Marlon Wayans reminded us last week, you don’t have to still be romantically involved with someone for there to be a lot of love and to want to the best for them.

Tisha Campbell-Martin recently filed for divorce from Duane Martin after more than 20 years together. And while we don’t know why they’re parting ways, we know that they’re still keeping it friendly and supporting one another’s endeavors. That was made evident when both stars were announced as cast members on new projects recently (Tisha in a pilot from Robin Roberts and Regina King, and Duane on the upcoming Bad Boys II spinoff series). Duane made sure to celebrate both of their achievements, speaking for the first time since the news hit. He told his fans, “All we do is Win! Win! Win! ‘NO MATTER WHAT!’ Congrats to my #BFF @tishacampbell”:

Tisha responded by sending the love and good wishes back to her estranged husband.

“Awwww @duane_martin Separate but one united front no matter what!!!” she wrote. “#familyfirst #familyalways #proudofyou #bff4life #xenandzekebindus”:

And while many fans hope that such messages between the two could signal a future reconciliation, a source close to the situation told PEOPLE that the split was a few years in the making due to life’s stressors and struggles.

“I know that it’s been coming. It’s not anything that’s new,” the source said. “It’s been getting harder and harder for them for the last two years. But it just got to the breaking point recently. It’s one of those things where they’ve been talking about it and fighting it out and trying to come to a conscious uncoupling.”

“What’s the straw that broke the camel’s back, I don’t know, but I know that with their kid and schedules and money issues, it all played into it,” the source added, mentioning son Xen’s autism diagnosis. “They’ve been through a lot of different stress tests. Sometimes couples just fall out of love.”
