Keyshia Cole has found love, lost it, fought for it and searched for it, all while in the public eye (including on reality television). The effects of heartbreak have greatly influenced her music from the very beginning, but they’ve also greatly changed what it is she desires from a partner and wants in a loving relationship. So when asked what her list of requirements now includes while visiting The Steve Harvey Show, Cole’s list was short. Her most important request had nothing to do with the type of job he has, the number of kids, the relationship with his mother or anything like that. Instead, she cares most about what kind of relationship a man who wishes to be in her life now has with God.

“I feel like the thing that was lacking in the relationship that has to be strong is a strong foundation in Christ,” she said. First! And on top of that, to be focused and attentive to the relationship, because if you’re looking for things outside of what you already have then it’s not…yeah…nah.”

“Well, all that’s coming,” Harvey replied.

“Hopefully,” she said.

“Ain’t no hopefully,” he added. “It’s going to happen for you. It’s going to happen.”

Of course, the 36-year-old singer who recently released her album 11:11 Reset, was married to former NBA player Daniel “Boobie” Gibson and infidelity was behind the deterioration of their union. They share their son Daniel, Jr., 7, and she has been adamant that a co-parenting relationship is all they have and will have moving forward.

“Thank God all those emotions are gone. I don’t feel anything,” she said while speaking to The Breakfast Club“I prayed for that. There was times that I would really wonder why and ask myself, ‘Is it you? What’s going on here’ I just realized that with or without me, you’re still gonna be a slucket-bucket. That’s jokingly but seriously joking. You know, you just have to realize. Listen, man. Ain’t no hard feelings. It happened the way it happened. Everything happens for a reason.”
