“I Thought I Would Be Eating Everything”: Jordin Sparks Says She’s Lost Her Appetite Entering Home Stretch Of Pregnancy
Jordin Sparks has entered into the home stretch of her pregnancy, with her first child due this spring. The 28-year initially lauded how smoothly her pregnancy was going, saying she wasn’t suffering from morning sickness and was enjoying every type of food.
“It’s crazy!” the singer said to Life & Style. “My first trimester, I craved a lot of salty stuff like chips, pretzels… and then, randomly, blood oranges out of nowhere. I could always do candy, pickles.”
But the further she’s come along, she’s been surprised by how much her appetite has decreased. After announcing her pregnancy last year, Sparks told the magazine that eating started to feel like a chore that required a lot of thought.
“My appetite kind of just went out the window,” she said. “That’s been strange to deal with, because I thought I would be eating everything.”
But the singer said she’s trying to remain positive about the changes in her appetite and with her body, including her more recent back pain.
“I’m like, ‘OK, got a couple more months of this, we can do it!'” she said.
It also helps that Sparks is taking it a little bit easier. After trying to maintain a consistent and tough workout routine alongside husband Dana Isaiah, who is a model, she’s decided to slow down and listen to her body as she nears the end of her pregnancy.
“It hasn’t been the same as it was before. I was going three or four times a week,” she said in a previous interview with the magazine. “Then fatigue and just being tired and you have to listen to your body and where it’s at, especially in this kind of state and being pregnant. There are days when I’m like, ‘Yeah babe, let’s go!’ and we go really hard. Then there are days when I’m like, ‘OK, I’ll see you later. Have a good time.'”
Overall, Sparks is looking forward to this new chapter and whatever motherhood will bring — because she currently doesn’t have a clue.
“I have no idea what kind of mom I’m gonna be. I’ve never done it before!” she said. “But I know I love kids, I’ve always had an affinity towards kids and being around them and their energy, just all of that. For me, I’m excited. There are so many unknowns that I’m like, ‘OK, we’ll see what’s happening.’ But I’ve always been that way. I’ve always kind of flown by the seat of my pants, so we’ll see how it goes.”
