(The Fresh Xpress) — In lieu of the passing of two iconic civil rights leaders-Benjamin Hooks and Dorothy Height-many wonder about the future of civil rights. Since the millennial generation, born 1977-2000, lacks first-hand experience with segregation and Jim Crow, some fear that the struggle for equality will be lost in indifference to our heritage and a quest for material wealth. Not to fret though; we have had our own encounters with inequality, which I believe will sprout a new generation of civil rights leaders. One such opportunity has been introduced through the increasingly common police brutality.
