Tisha Campbell-Martin Seeking Spousal Support From Duane In Divorce
Tisha Campbell-Martin may want to call it quits on her marriage, but to start over, she’s seeking the financial assistance of her estranged husband.
According to TMZ, and the divorce documents the 49-year-old filed in L.A., Tisha is seeking spousal support and wants to have joint physical and legal custody of the couple’s two sons, Xen, 16, and Ezekiel, 8.
The couple was together for more than 20 years after officially tying the knot in 1996.
In a statement about her decision, Tisha said, “After 27 years of being together and two amazing children, it pains me to announce that I’ve filed for divorce. It’s an emotional time and I graciously ask for privacy for me, our children and the rest of our family.”
After the news hit that the long-time couple were going their separate ways, Tisha took to social media to say that despite everything that was happening, she and Duane would be “Family FOREVER.”
Duane hasn’t responded to her divorce filing in court, nor has he said anything publicly.
As previously mentioned, it was just in 2016 on the OWN series, It’s Not You, It’s Men, that Tisha spoke about the importance of not slipping into the “Aight, love ya phase.” That’s the point where a couple becomes too independent and starts doing their own thing because they count on the fact that both parties love one another and always will. Tisha and Duane attempted to keep that from happening by going back to the dating phase.
“I just told my husband, ‘You love me, I love you. That’s a given,” she said. “I want you to like me.”
“We’re in a whole new sexy phase where it’s like, ‘I want to be your girlfriend,’” she added. “I’m his girlfriend right now and he likes me.”
