“You Can Fall In Love With People You’re Not Compatible With” Adrienne Bailon Drops A Word On The Real

February 23, 2018  |

Light bulb alert! Yesterday, The Real co-host Adrienne Bailon shared a real word about falling in love. Sometimes your heart can gravitate toward someone you’re not compatible with, and that can hurt like hell. Can anyone relate?

During The Real’s “Girl Chat Live” segment, the newly-married Bailon said that she has been in love with people who are not on the same wavelength in terms of compatibility.

“I have been in love with people who I was not compatible with, but I looked down the line, like ‘yo,’ this never would have worked out,” she said. “We don’t like the same things…we’re not on the same path. You can be in love with people and love people that you are not meant to be with.” Girl, if you don’t preach!

“I do all the time,” fellow co-host Loni Love hilariously interjected. Love was talking about her serious love for actor Idris Elba (I mean, isn’t Loni everybody when is comes to that fine British man?). “I knew it wasn’t gonna work. I knew it,” she continued.

But getting back to Bailon’s serious point, it is true. Who hasn’t, not only been in love with someone they’re not compatible with, but has had full-fledged relationships or even gotten married to people they know in their heart would never be able to go the distance?

Bailon respectfully asked Jeannie Mai, who is currently going through a divorce with her Trump-lovin’ husband, whether what she was saying was wrong.

“We’ve both been in love with people who, with compatibility, where what I want out of life is maybe not what you want,” she said. “Maybe where I want to live, or my goals, my aspirations, what I want for my career is not something – you have to be somewhat on the same path. You can love people, but long-term that isn’t gonna work because you’re going in two completely different directions.”

Mai nodded and uh-huhed in agreement. For those that learn this lesson early, it is a blessing. And for those that don’t, and you’re now reading this, take Bailon’s advice. While I don’t agree with everything Bailon says on her show, especially her belief in not washing her hands after doing #1 in your own bathroom, this right here advice is a gem. Do you agree with her or nah?
