What exactly is a milk allergy?

Milk allergies are far less common than lactose intolerance, but more severe. A milk allergy is occurs when the body’s immune system attacks certain proteins found in milk. Someone with a milk allergy can have a very strong reaction to a tiny amount of milk, whereas someone with lactose intolerance will just experience mild discomfort in response to a small amount of milk.
