Ok Girl: Keshia Knight Pulliam Says She Left Celebrity Big Brother To Breastfeed Her Daughter
Keshia Knight Pulliam made the decision to appear on CBS’ “Celebrity Big Brother” for whatever reason. The decision strikes me as an odd one because she’s not promoting anything in particular and she has Ella, her one-year-old daughter, at home. Typically, I wouldn’t say she needed to sacrifice one for the other but when she was facing elimination on the reality show, Pulliam made it seem that there was indeed a conflict.
She and Omarosa Manigault were nominated for eviction. Pulliam asked her housemates to vote for her because she missed her daughter.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she said:
“I was ready to stay and fight but my breast milk supply has kind of been getting a little less. They asked me honestly and I was like, ‘You know, to tell you the truth, since you guys put me up on the block anyway, it’s time for me to go home. It’s time for me to make sure that Ella’s OK, ‘cause she is my priority.”
Later, Pulliam shared this message via her Instagram page.
Thank you all for your support & well wishes!! There is no amount of money ever worth sacrificing her needs. When you become a mother your entire world shifts. Everything I do is for this little girl. I am grateful for the #BigBrother opportunity. However, nothing tops this feeling right here. Tonight I won!! My desire is always to be an example of #BlackGirlMagic because I have my little girl and millions of little girls around the word watching, learning & modeling my actions. This is BIGGER than me. #MommyAndEllaGrace #NormalizeBreastFeeding #FamilyOverEverything
I’m not trying to say Keshia is a bad mother. I believe she has the best intentions for her child. I just feel like she’s doing the most with her eviction from Big Brother. I can’t believe that her eviction from a reality show suddenly caused her to refocus on her daughter’s needs. It just seems that it made for a convenient rationalization from being voted off.
Best of luck to her.
