(Chicago Sun Times) — Chicago bar and liquor store owners would no longer expand their businesses only to lose their costly investment to a license denial, under a mayoral plan advanced Wednesday to grant “conditional approval’’ of liquor license applications.
The City Council’s License Committee approved Mayor Daley’s plan to allow liquor license applications to be submitted and approved before money is spent on expansion or new construction. Under current rules, owners have to complete construction before attempting to get a license.
