Jay-Z dropped an animated video of his daughter Blue Ivy Carter rapping in her own “Freestyle” on her 6th birthday on January 7. “Blue’s Freestyle” is a single from his Grammy-nominated album 4:44, and he makes it very clear in that project that his oldest daughter is one of the biggest reasons he has become a better man, husband, and father. I only just recently listened to the entire project, and while every song resonated with me, I have to admit that “Blue’s Freestyle” is a favorite. It’s hard to understand Blue’s bars because duh – she’s a kid! But with the help of Lyric Genius, I was able to decipher a few gems that she dropped, my favorite being “Never seen a ceiling in my whole life.” Courtesy of Lyric Genius, here are the words:

Everything everything this my only single thing
Everything I hear is my answer
And if you think I say, then innocent if I say?
I never hear that, I be in the posse
Never seen a ceiling in my whole life
Everything I seen, everything is rotten
Never sit in silence, innocent is Carter
Innocent we seek them
I and say we see them
Everything I feed, everything I read
Boom shakalaka, boom shakalaka
Boom shakalaka, boom shakalaka
Everything in shaka, everything in faka
Everything in shaka, everything in faka

In the video, cartoon Blue is about to perform at a talent show where her mom and dad are proudly looking on. The host says, “Coming to the stage now, Blue Ivy, the ballerina.” Blue, in a pink tutu, sighs, making it seem as though she is about to dance. But a few seconds later, a mic drops from above, and she starts rapping, almost in revolt. Others in the audience are shocked. Her parents are, too, but they change their tune when they see others eventually getting into it. Even the twins raise the roof from their cribs. After Blue spits, she drops the mic knowing that she just killed it. And I have to agree. She did. Check out the video below:
