Do You Really Want Oprah To Run For President Because Stedman Says “She Would Absolutely Do It”
For years, the public has been screaming “Oprah for president,” but after last night’s Golden Globe speech, the sentiment has certainly picked up serious steam. So much so that NBC even declared the media mogul “OUR future president” as a slight to the majority of American citizens’ refusal to acknowledge Donald Trump as our commander-in-chief.
Though the network has since deleted the incredibly bias tweet, that hasn’t stopped other outlets from trying to determine whether the possibility of Oprah becoming our president one day is really, well, a possibility. When asked if she’d consider running in the 2020 presidential race, the LA Times said the 63-year-old, “paused, cracking a sly smile” and then replied, “Okaay!” When asked whether she had actual plans to run, however, she told Bloomberg, “I don’t ― I don’t.”
But Oprah’s crew, including her partner of 32 years, suggests she could be persuaded to put some plans in motion if seeing her in the white house is what the public truly wants. Two of Oprah’s closest friends told CNN that she is “actively thinking” about running for president and has been for months. Meanwhile, Stedman told LA Times, “It’s up to the people. She would absolutely do it.”
So what say ye? Oprah for President in 2020?
