A 19-Year-Old College Student Didn’t Let Going Into Labor Stop Her From Finishing Her Final
Trying to pass your college courses is no easy task, especially when you are expecting a child. Johnson County Community College student Nayzia Thomas knows this struggle all too well. The 19-year-old student was expecting her first child to arrive once her finals were over, but her baby boy decided that it was time to make his debut during finals time. Thomas ended up going into labor during finals week and instead of risking failing a class or getting an incomplete. she took it into the delivery room with her.
“It was hard to focus, but I had such a motivation to finish before I brought my son into the world, so that he could be my only focus,” the Kansas native told the Huffington Post.
After her psychology final was submitted, Thomas gave birth to her son, Anthony, at 1:30 pm on December 12th.
Thomas’ body went into shock after labor, which she said was scary, but she recovered well.
Working hard has seemed to be a breeze for Thomas, who found out she was expecting her first child while working three jobs and attending summer classes.
Thomas ended up finishing the semester with a 3.5 GPA
