We’ve told you about Dallas reporter Demetria Obilor, otherwise known by the Internet as “Traffic bae.” The 26-year-old beauty is the traffic reporter for ABC affiliate WFAA, and recently, she made news for giving a classy clapback to viewers who had a problem with the way she looks — from her hair to her clothing. She let everyone know she’s not going anywhere.
One viewer in particular, took things to a disrespectful level when she posted a public message on Twitter saying that Obilor is pretty much a plus-size woman wearing clothing that doesn’t suit her size.
“Has anyone seen Channel 8’s new morning traffic reporter? Her name is Demetria Obilor & she’s a size 16/18 woman in a size six dress and she looks ridiculous,” Jan Shedd wrote. “I understand that when I watch Channel 8 I’m going to get biased reporting and political correctness, but clearly they have taken leave of their senses. I’m not going to watch Channel 8 anymore.”
When such foolish commentary went viral, and so did Obilor, the reporter received a great deal of support from the public. That includes support from actress Gabrielle Union, who offered to send her some stylish pieces from her recent New York and Company line. To Union, Obilor reminded her very much of her popular character of Mary Jane Paul from Being Mary Jane.

Sending love, light and support to Dallas News Anchor Demetria Obilor who was recently body shamed online. YOU are the real life Mary Jane… A go-getter news anchor who dresses DOPE and doesn’t give a s*** what everyone else thinks. Keep on kicking ass and taking names queen. We love you just the way you are! And since you slay everything you wear, I’m sending you a bunch of pieces from my @nyandcompany collection and some credit for extra pieces!
Well, Obilor finally received the clothing from Union and the body-shamed reporter definitely looks fantastic — per the usual — in a look from the line:
Just when her haters thought they’d deflate her, they helped elevate Obilor. Thanks, Jan!
