Serena Williams Was As Excited About Her Post-Baby Red Carpet Return As We Were

The last time Serena Williams was on the red carpet, the 36-year-old was more than 21 weeks pregnant with her first child and turning heads in an emerald gown in May at the Met Gala. She was glowing and looked fantastic!
Since then she’s had baby Alexis, has had a bridal shower in anticipation of her upcoming wedding and she’s been settling into motherhood. While a lot has changed in that manner, physically, Williams is still a brick house. She’s as strong as ever and still turning heads. The new mom and beauty reminded everyone of that when she made her red carpet return last night for the Glamour Women of the Year awards in Brooklyn. She was excited for the opportunity to step out again and, you know, slay.
“It’s been a while since I’ve been on the red carpet. In fact, since before I was pregnant,” Williams said on Instastories while teasing fans with her look before the event. “Well, actually, since the Met Gala. Stay tuned!”
She rocked the carpet in a Versace gown and a sleek high ponytail by celebrity stylist Vernon Francois. In case you missed it, this was the end result:

The star’s makeup was done by celebrity MUA Renny Vasquez, who used affordable drugstore brand Black/Opal for her red carpet look.
“I adore working with Serena – she is a beautiful person inside and out. Knowing this was her first red carpet appearance since giving birth, I wanted to make sure she felt, and looked, simply amazing,” he said. “I used Black/Opal makeup to create a natural-looking, yet elegantly sculpted look that complemented her high ponytail and black Versace dress.”
Love it! Check out more behind-the-scenes pictures of her look from last night, below:
